We have been marking Gas Safety Week 2025 with extra focus on how to stay safe around natural gas.
At Lifeskills, this is not just for one week of the year. During their visit, pupils discover what natural gas smells like using a Wales & West “Smell Gas Card” and they practise the five important steps to take if they ever notice a leak at home:
No naked flames
Don’t touch electrical switches
Open windows and doors
Turn off the gas
Call 0800 111 999
The sessions are interactive and full of fun activities. The children get to act out safety scenarios, discuss what they should do in these situations, and take home activity books to share with their families. It is a memorable way to make sure the messages stick.
Gas Safety Week may only last a few days, but the lessons children learn will stay with them for years, helping to keep them and their families safe.
